i dunno where to start with this one man

had to try out every key on the keyboard before i learnt that z was the button to progress through the menu and jump. i think i skipped most of the first checkpoint in the forest (first) area after finding a button that played a TF2 sound, then i went to the second checkpoint, and now i don't actually think i can progress anywhere.

i also just learnt that the music doesn't loop properly either while i was typing this part

this just feels exactly like the scratch version besides a higher framerate, removal of the cutscene before the main menu, a more boring text sequence before the removed cutscene. both versions have very delayed input on the main menu for some reason, and i wanna bet that loading screen isn't even a real loading screen. i'd know because i've done this before on the same engine, which is SCRATCH, BY THE WAY.

dolan controls like ass, i'm not sure how you're supposed to walljump up there when he can't even run that fast. i don't see any use for the up and down camera movements when you hold down the up and down arrow keys, because the button in the part i was stuck on was too high even for that bastard camera.

i was also reading the comments of the scratch version and apparently your advice for getting through this tall as fuck wall is to "time it". i'm not sure what crazy fucking stunt you want me to do in order to time it right but i can't make the crescent moon hair lookin ass jump any higher than he already does. could be cause of the weird collision (for example every right angle wall makes dolan think its a slope at the very corner)

also why do you spell it "wall rikashay"? it's ricochet. i'm not sure how you fucked it up twice and never bothered once to spellcheck it.

i don't know why people are uploading scratch projects to newgrounds. it's not even an engine capable of doing full fledged games because of its limited nature, probably because it was designed for kids who didn't know how to code. there's other visual based programming languages out there you can use if you can't find a way to code using text and a guide. if you can't figure that out either, i think you should look into making a comic or something instead with these characters.

the more i look at dolan the more i think his two eyes are connected and that they look like a mouth constantly screaming in agony.

all in all, yeah game blows man. should fix the control scheme. and find an actual engine too. trust me, something like gamemaker might be something you'll thank yourself for later instead of snapping legos together for the next 5 years. i used the site for about the same timeframe, and let me tell you. not. worth it.

I kinda agree with this review, the game was released in under a month, and was never intended for a Newgrounds audience, so this game must feel very low quality and out of place compared to other games on the site. I recently replayed this game about a week ago, and I don't really like the mechanics of the game as it could get really tedious, and a few other things. Scratch isn't really my thing anymore and it's a good thing I left, as I've made better creations using other platforms

i already forgot the name of the main character when i won. i got a green screen, i assume i won. he has a very tall laptop (since the background images have a very wrong size and are warped onto the screen as a result)

i mean, it's functional. not any good. what kinda childhood did you have to make dark streets of chester? curious.

i guess it's that easy to impress interns now

decent game, got a score of 5353, i like weaving right between the faster obstacles

im pretty sure there's already a rhythm game that does this, can't remember the name now. i like to think undertale caused it to be popular due to that one attack in undyne's fight.

the soul's design reminds me of..something else, and the difficulty needs some tweaking. overall, functional rhythm game, but i think you should try a different approach

adding more to this actually, this doesn't really "work" as a rhythm game in the sense you press to the beat. i tried doing that, but the charting doesn't really follow the notes and instead the song acts more as background music for the game itself, which is also just meh. so it's more of an arcade game than a rhythm game, it just says it's a rhythm game. people like to call geometry dash for example a rhythm game because levels often sync to the beat. games like osu and etterna always go to the beat or song in their charting, this funny lil soul here doesn't really follow on-beat, if that makes more sense

J4cko16 responds:

Thank you for feedback, I will take all of this into consideration. The game is actually synced to the music but the Web.GL can glitch on the song called "Leveled" causing it to be off-synced to the music. (the blocks are synced to the song not the movement of the shield)

you should probably do somethin with the collision that fixes the ball from going into the paddle if you ram into it by the side, cause the ball gets stuck in it. gameplay itself isn't anything to write home about, it's just breakout lol

can't say much on the art since it's a prototype, but it could use work! not sure what to do with it specifically, so i'll just say try experimenting more

Thank you for your feedback

i watered flowers :) plants

while i do like the game...the music and visuals repeat themselves from other games (so far i've noticed the same transitions, music, sfx, and variations of the player graphic from laser push) with minor tweaks, which kills off a bit of the charm! additionally, some puzzles i've yet to find a reasonable solution for (see levels 10 and 20, stopped at 21). i did find the new mechanics to be nice but i haven't checked to see if those originated from anywhere else. regardless it did kill a few minutes! it's good

hi i'm rust i draw sometimes, usually with monochromatic colors, but on the other occasion there is, indeed, color

no gender sorry
